Exploring Workforce Development in Aviation
Mori Hajizadeh, our Aviation Industry Engagement Manager, recently visited Qantas Hangar 3 at Brisbane Airport, the largest single open-span hangar in the southern hemisphere. Designed to accommodate the heavy maintenance needs of Boeing 767 and Airbus A330 aircraft, the facility highlights Qantas' extensive in-house capabilities and commitment to maintaining its fleet with the highest standards of expertise.
The visit provided a firsthand look at Qantas’ investment in workforce development, particularly in training the next generation of aircraft maintenance engineers. Through its engineering academy and partnerships with the education sector, Qantas is helping to ensure a sustainable pipeline of skilled professionals who will support the aviation industry's future demands.
Workforce planning and skills development remain critical priorities for the industry. As aviation continues to evolve, a strong focus on these areas will help secure a steady stream of qualified professionals ready to meet the sector’s needs.
Industry Skills Australia extends its gratitude to Alison Steele for facilitating this insightful visit and looks forward to further collaboration in shaping the future workforce of the aviation industry.
