Regional Australia Institute Hosts Regions Rising Conference in Cairns

The Regional Australia Institute (RAI) is hosting its flagship Regions Rising conference last week in Cairns, bringing together regional, government, and industry leaders to focus on critical issues affecting regional Australia. A key theme of this year’s event is regional access in transport, freight, and logistics, highlighting the vital role these sectors play in supporting regional communities and economies.

Representing ISA at the conference is David Forbes from the Industry Engagement Team, attending to engage with stakeholders and contribute to discussions on transport and logistics, an area central to ISA’s work in regional development.

RAI is Australia’s first and only independent think tank dedicated to empowering regions to thrive. Through a combination of research, advocacy, capacity-building, community engagement, and policy development, RAI works to support the prosperity of regional Australia. Its efforts are backed by a strong membership collective and a commitment to evidence-based solutions.

The Regions Rising conference serves as a platform for solution-focused conversations, attracting policy makers, local organisations, academics, and community champions. This year’s focus on transport and logistics underscores the sector’s importance in enabling regional connectivity, economic growth, and community wellbeing.

Participation in events like Regions Rising allows ISA to network and collaborate with industry, better understand the challenges impacting regional areas, and work alongside RAI to share insights and research. These efforts contribute to enhancing and growing regional Australia through informed, strategic action.
